Choral Ensemble to Perform at Carnegie Hall

The CCS Choral Ensemble, an auditioned group of 23 students in grades 10-12, will travel to New York City to participate in the prestigious National Concert Chorus performance of This Amazing Day at Carnegie Hall.

Scheduled for April 12, 2025, this event will be conducted by Dr. Daniel Bara and will feature high school choirs from across the country who were selected through auditions. Additionally, the concert will showcase a world premiere composition by Jennifer Lucy Cook, the event’s composer-in-residence. This marks the second time the CCS Choral Ensemble will perform at Carnegie Hall, having first taken the stage in 2022.

Reflecting on the significance of this opportunity, CCS Choral Director Christa Tahere said, “When you participate in something so much larger than yourself, you gain a deeper understanding of how God intended creation to work together. I hope these students recognize that they’re part of something truly meaningful.”

Beyond their performance and rehearsals, the students will have the chance to immerse themselves in a small taste of New York City's art scene. Mrs. Tahere will take the choral students to Broadway to see The Great Gatsby, and they will also explore the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Senior Olivia Blevins, who has been in choir for seven years, shared her excitement: "I'm really excited to be singing under a new conductor! I think learning from another professional is an important experience for a singer in becoming well-rounded."

This Amazing Day will incorporate artistic projections, creating an immersive experience that highlights the beauty of the natural world. This unique blend of sound and imagery promises to make the performance a truly unforgettable celebration of choral excellence.
