CCS Middle School to Perform Beauty and The Beast, Jr.

With the Middle School musical production of Beauty and the Beast, Jr. set to open on Wednesday, December 11, the cast is hard at work putting the finishing touches on this enchanting show. Fifty-four students in grades 3-8 make up the talented cast, and 80 students comprise the hard working crew. They have been working tirelessly since September to make this show fantastic.

This year’s production hasn’t been without its challenges, as the students have danced and sung all over campus while the Fine Arts Center (FAC) was under renovation. Now that construction on the Fine Arts Center is complete, the cast and crew of Beauty & the Beast, Jr. look forward to the honor of being the first group to perform in the revamped space. Ava Doyley, an 8th grader at CCS who plays the role of Belle, shared her experience. “Being able to rehearse outside of the FAC has actually been fun. Using time and space wisely has helped me grow in musical theater. As soon as I was able to step onto the stage, I felt exhilarated and grateful,” she said. Doyley also mentioned that she has really enjoyed learning her role this semester: “Belle is a sweet, kind and spunky character that I admire, and I hope to make her proud.”

Beauty and the Beast, Jr. tells the classic story of a cursed prince, transformed into a beast,  who must learn that love cannot be won through appearances alone. Belle teaches him not to judge a book by its cover, as they discover the power of love and inner beauty.

The CCS Theatre production of Beauty and the Beast, Jr. will be held December 11-14, and tickets are on sale now. We can’t wait for you to see the show!
