Chattanooga Christian School’s varsity football program celebrated its 14th year with the 2022-2023 season. Our young football team has attended the TSSAA DII-AA playoffs consecutively since 2018. It is not uncommon to see 4,000 to 5,000 spectators enjoying Friday night football at David Stanton Field. Football plays a unique role in the overall development of school spirit as well as the development of our BOLTUP culture among the young men participating. Football acts as a supplement to the overall emphasis placed on spiritual, academic, and athletic development at Chattanooga Christian School.
Daily, our team utilizes our state-of-the art weight training facility (Power House) for strength and conditioning and film study in our Charger Team Room. CCS offers 10 quality high school coaches (6 on campus) and 5 for our middle school program (4 on campus). Our high school program partners with our middle school team to give each athlete a high school mentor for the school year.
Coach Grant Reynolds is Chattanooga Christian School’s 5th head football coach. He previously led the East Hamilton Hurricanes to a TSSAA quarterfinal game defeating Dekalb County and Upperman High School. Before coaching at East Hamilton, Reynolds served as the head coach at Madison Academy where he compiled a 28-8 overall record bolstered by two region championships and a class 4A state runner-up finish in 2016. He also spent 11 years as head coach at Boyd Buchanan where he guided the Buccaneers to nine region titles, numerous playoff appearances (five quarterfinal appearances and three semifinals), and a state final in 2009.
With an overall record of 157-67, Coach Reynolds has a history of success, but more importantly, he values Christ-centered education and the impact he can have on athletes and their personal walk with Jesus Christ. His desire to establish a team culture that builds on and complements what our football staff has set in place will be key to growing our program.
Grant Reynolds has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 32 years, and together they have two children, Libby (25) and John David (20). The Reynolds family attends Clear Creek Church of Christ.
Coach Bubba Burr serves as our Defensive Coordinator joining Phil Massey in the 2022 season. He is a native of Memphis, where Burr attended the University of Memphis (then Memphis State University), where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration while playing NCAA DI baseball. While earning a master’s degree in teaching, also from University of Memphis, Burr served as a graduate assistant baseball coach.
Burr has always enjoyed coaching athletic teams and began that journey with high school athletes when he joined the Memphis University School (MUS) staff to teach and coach. During his previous stents at MUS (13 years as DC) he helped lead them to two state championships (04,05) and at Baylor (16 years as DC) he helped them to numerous state playoff games.
Bubba and his wife, Molly, have two sons, Thomas and Charlie. The Burr family attends church Hixson United Methodist
Coach Henry Woodard serves as our Offensive Coordinator joining Grant Reynolds before the 2023 season. He is a native of Chattanooga, where Woodard won a 2003 state championship as a player under Reynolds at Boyd-Buchanan. After ending his football career, Woodard went on to compete in the 2008 Olympic Team Trials in the sport of weightlifting. During this time, he was a resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Co. Woodard earned a master’s degree in Physical Education from Faulkner University while serving as an assistant football coach for the NAIA program from 2013-2015. In 2016 Woodard worked as an assistant under Reynolds at Madison Academy where, together, they made an appearance in the 4A state championship game. In 2017 Woodard served as the offensive coordinator at Northeast High School in Clarksville, TN helping the eagles offense average more than 33 ppg. From 2018-2019 Woodard assisted at 6A Alabama powerhouse Clay-Chalkville in Birmingham, AL making 2 semi final appearances. After a short stint in 2020 at Stewarts Creek High School Woodard rejoined Reynolds at East Hamilton, where he served as an assistant football coach and head strength coach before accepting the offensive coordinator position at CCS. Henry and his wife, Brittany, have one son and one daughter, Trip and Braylen. The Woodard family attends church at Clear Creek Church of Christ in Hixson.
